Back on the Market after a refresh. Straight talk about Kehena Sunrise. You'll spot it from the road: a bright yellow house under a green metal roof, wrapped in red hibiscus, purple bougainvillea, and palms leaning into the trade winds. It looks happy because it is. Step onto either lanai and the Pacific takes over. Deep blue water, the curve of the Kehena coastline, a headland on the horizon, and whitewater working the lava shore. In the morning the sun comes up right out of it. That's where the name comes from. Upstairs, the living area and one bedroom open to a long covered lanai, where a live-edge wood bar will probably get more use than any dining table: coffee at first light, lunch in the shade, dinner as the sky goes dark. Pull a lounge chair to the rail and the afternoon is spoken for. Big windows and sliding glass doors keep the light and the ocean moving through the rooms. Downstairs has two more bedrooms and an open lanai of its own, with the same ocean in front of it. Two levels, two places to watch the water, and nobody fighting over the best seat. A ramp and bridge lead to the upper level, so getting in with groceries or gear doesn't mean climbing stairs. After a day on the coast, rinse off in the lava-rock outdoor shower. Solar panels on the roof help with the power bill. The yard is mature and planted: palms, plumeria, hibiscus, bougainvillea, ti, and pandanus, with open lawn to spread out on. It adds color year-round and some privacy from the road. This isn't a resort. It's a home on one of the most striking stretches of coastline on the Big Island, with ocean views from both floors and a sunrise that shows up every day whether you're awake for it or not.
